Hello Everyone!
My name is Aya and I moved to Visby in 2009 and lived there until 2023 September. I come from Tokyo and I am a big Ghibli fan! I have watched all of the Studio Ghibli films with and without my children who are all grown up today. I love the Studio Ghibli films and “Kiki’s Delivery Service” is my favorite. I especially like the scene where she visits her friend in the forest and talks about what they do during a slump or a crisis in their profession. What Kiki experiences, happens to most of us in life. And that’s what makes us feel so close to her because we can relate to that feeling.

I enjoy watching movies in general and I especially like to look into the “Making of the movies” when I like a film. So I looked into all the places that inspired Hayao Miyazaki in Visby and Stockholm.

When I like a film, I like to watch it many times so I really had fun finding out the places that Hayao Miyazaki used in this film. We will visit 18 places by foot in Visby and/or 21 places in Stockholm that inspired Miyazaki in the making of Kiki’s Delivery Service. It is a walking tour but we will be climbing up stairs and some steep cobble stone roads in between. So wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

I highly recommend that you watch the film “Kiki’s Delivery Service” at least once, better twice before you join any of the tours, so that you can enjoy the tours to its fullest. We will be discussing about the film and you will get quizzes about the film from me during the tour!

Looking forward to showing you around these magical cities!

News
After nearly 20 years, my husband and I moved to the mainland from the island of Gotland in 2023. So I will be in Visby only in the summer when there are enough people interested in the tour. For visitors to Visby during the other seasons, I have created a Digital Tour which can guide you to the places that inspired Studio Ghibli to make the film. Check out the digital tour at the Store page on this website!
Below is an image of the GPSQuiz that I created.
